Historical Figures of Our Black History!

My Kindergarten class each had an Historical Figure in our Black History to represent!

We had Michelle Obama, she is the 1st African American First Lady of the White House.

We had President Barack Obama, he is our first African American President of the USA

We had Matthew Henson, he was the 1st African American to reach the North Pole.

We had Granville T. Woods, he was the 1st African American to invent the Railroad telegraphs.

We also had W.C. Handy, he was the 1st African American to compose Jazz music.

Each student gave a short speech about their Historical figure.

Here I am encouraging Michelle Obama to say her speech...lol

We ended our Program with a "Soulful" lunch. We had BBQ Chicken, Ribs, Collard Greens and
Mac-N-Cheese. Some of our parents joined us for our tasty lunch...YUMMY!!

Campaign Parade for Kindergarten President!

Each Student made their own Campaign posters!

Then we started our Parade! "1,2,3...VOTE FOR ME!"
We paraded on the playground for the 2's!

We paraded around the Nursery!
Each student handed out treats to the voters!
Each class voted for who they wanted to be our "Kindergarten President"!

All the votes were placed in our Ballet Box.

We tallied all the votes......

Congratulations, Alexandria! She is our "Kindergarten President!"

Super Bowl XLV Party!

One of my parents played for the Packers back in the day.

Like Father, Like Son! One of my students brought his Dad's helmet and football for Show-N-Tell!

 Snack time was a "Touchdown!"

I introduced my students to "Finger Football", and they loved it!

We played "Pass to the Receiver" a game I made up after purchasing the Football player and there was no inflatable football in the package.

100th Day of Kindergarten!

We started our Celebration by wearing our 100th Day Celebration T-shirts!
Each shirt actually had 100 things on them!
We counted out 100 things to make Trail Mix!

This what we would look like if we were 100 years old! This one has a cane!

We made a poster of 100 things!

We made a hat with 100 stickers on it!

How to make a Marshmallow Snowman!

For our Cub Cooking Project we made Marshmallow Snowmen!
First we need to gather all the items we needed.

Now that we have our items, let's get started!
3 large mallows on a toothpick. Add 2 more toothpicks for the arms and place 4 small mallows on them.

It was hard to get them to stand up!

After a little patience, we were done putting our snowmen together!

How proud we were of ourselves, practicing patiences and not giving up!

Ahliel and his snowman were very HAPPY! His Snowman is doing a BACK FLIP!

Creative Winter Writing!

For our "Snow" unit this week, we are learning how to write creatively! In our Writing Journals, we wrote about what famous person we would like to have dinner with and why! Here are some of my Creative Writers work!
(Yes, they drew pictures, but its a start!)
Ahliel - "SpongBob, because he likes to eat snack with Stanley!"

Sir Alexavier - "Big Time Rush, because they sing cool songs!"

Nickolas - "Batman, because he likes to play with me!"

Hurley - "SpongeBob, because he lives in the ocean!"

Eddrin - "Michael Jordan, so that he could teach me some moves!"
